Florence County Medical Society Alliance
The South Carolina Medical Association Alliance (SCMAA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1923 by the spouses of the South Carolina Medical Association members. With the official motto, “Physicians’ Spouses Dedicated to the Health of South Carolina,” the SCMAA is a grassroots volunteer organization which boasts membership from every corner of the state. What began as a women’s only organization, has grown and blossomed over the past ninety years into a multi-cultural advocacy group made up of men and women, and now includes licensed physicians as well. The SCMAA not only promotes health-related initiatives across the state, but is actively engaged in the promotion of legislation which protects the health interests of South Carolinians, and is also a stalwart advocate for the preservation of the practice of medicine in our state. The Florence County Medical Society Alliance (FCMSA) is comprised of spouses of physicians who are members of the Florence County Medical Society. The objectives of the FCMSA are to promote health education, to encourage volunteer participation in activities that meet health needs, and to support health related charitable endeavors. The FCMSA offers many benefits to our members including many volunteer opportunities, exciting meetings, evening social activities, numerous interest groups and clubs, and an environment to create life-long friendships.
